A Little Knitty, a small craft store in town, discovered the warmth and support of Auburn’s community when the small business required a larger, more prominent storefront. Because the new space needed to be close to the existing store, A Little Knitty’s owner had a hard time finding a new location. As part of the Auburn community, A Little Knitty didn’t have to tackle the challenge alone.
When the perfect space became available, the City of Auburn notified A Little Knitty of the opportunity. Negotiations ensued and, in a short time, A Little Knitty obtained an ideal solution to its problem. But, that’s not where the community’s support ended.
A Little Knitty could not afford to interrupt business to set-up it’s new shop. Needing to work on a tight budget and be back up and running as soon as possible, A Little Knitty reached out to Auburn’s business community for help. Auburn’s businesses rose to the occasion.
After requesting help on social media, a Little Knitty received double digit offers to assist in painting her shop, move furniture, and provide the equipment needed to get up and running. The overwhelming generosity and willingness to help testified to the strength of Auburn’s community. When residents and businesses in our community support one another, it makes Auburn a better place for everyone.
