When we attract new businesses to our community, it benefits us all. They create new jobs, bring new business to existing local companies, and generate tax revenue that helps the city provide better services. An invigorated local economy benefits the community which means cleaner parks and streets, more snow plowing in the winter, and many other things.
That’s why when Orion – a leading Boeing supplier in the region – looked to enhance convenience for several hundred of their employees by moving to a new location near a major transit center, the City of Auburn’s Economic Development team jumped at the opportunity to welcome them to our city. Working with local stakeholders and the regional government, our city located an area within Auburn that met all of Orion’s criteria. Local brokers and land owners worked with the city to craft a strategic deal that ensured Orion would be calling Auburn home.
The City of Auburn is proud of work put in by the private-public partnership to successfully negotiate a deal that benefits Orion and our local community. We are experiencing the benefits of attracting Orion to Auburn with more jobs and expansion their worker retraining program which ensures regional workers benefit from up-skilling and re-skilling. In addition, long-term growth looks bright as Orion also continues to expand product and sales operations.
Our local community is stronger when we work together to improve the quality of life by creating new opportunities. Together, we will continue to enhance our community by encouraging sustainable, smart development that brightens Auburn’s future and makes our city an even better place to live.
